The Irish Historic Flight Foundation is developing plans for a small, high-impact STEM and heritage facility centred on its collection of historic aircraft.
The aim is to create a distinctive space where Ireland’s aviation heritage can be experienced up close and used to support the future of the Irish aviation industry.
A Living Aviation Heritage Centre
At the heart of the concept is the power of live aircraft. By combining historic aircraft, real engineering stories and the knowledge of experienced aviation professionals, the facility will bring Ireland’s aviation past to life in a way that is active, accessible and relevant to today’s learners, families and visitors.
Hands-On STEM Learning
The proposed facility will combine heritage interpretation with interactive STEM experiences designed to build curiosity, practical understanding and ambition. Young people, students, families and the wider public will be able to explore how aircraft fly, how they are maintained, how engineering decisions are made and how aviation continues to evolve.
Supporting Ireland’s Aviation Future
By promoting engineering awareness, skills development, early engagement with aviation and aerospace careers, and understanding of the transition to more sustainable aviation, the project will help strengthen the future talent pipeline for Ireland’s aviation sector while widening access to the country’s aviation story.
Our ambition is to create a place where preservation has purpose: where aircraft that once shaped Ireland’s aviation journey can help motivate the engineers, pilots, innovators and problem-solvers who will shape what comes next.
