Irish Historic Flight Foundation

Help Preserve Ireland’s Aviation Heritage

Why Your Support Matters

The Irish Historic Flight Foundation (IHFF) exists to preserve and operate historic aircraft connected with Ireland’s aviation story, keeping them flying and visible at events, displays, and community activities across the country. From dedicated volunteers maintaining iconic aircraft to sponsors enabling flying displays, supporters are at the heart of everything we do.

Whether you’re passionate about aviation heritage, community engagement, or engineering, there are meaningful ways to support the IHFF mission and help ensure that Ireland’s aviation legacy continues to be experienced — not just remembered.

Our Operational Model

The Irish Historic Flight Foundation is structured as a not-for-profit organisation, focused on Ireland & international aviation heritage. Our launch in December 2014 was met with wide industry support, including organisations such as the Irish Air Corps, the Irish Aviation Authority, Aer Lingus, Ryanair, and others.

As a non profit entity that operates, restores, and flies vintage aircraft for public benefit, the IHFF relies on volunteer expertise, operational partners, sponsorships, and contributions to sustain its community engagement, flying activity, and heritage projects. Current operations are based at Ballyboy Airfield in Co.Meath Ireland, where the Foundation’s aircraft are maintained and prepared for flying displays.

Donations

Donations are a vital source of support for the IHFF’s ongoing activities. Funds contributed to the Foundation go directly toward aircraft care, parts, hangar operations, event participation, and preserving the skills needed to maintain historic aircraft airworthiness.

Volunteer

The strength of the IHFF comes from its dedicated team of volunteer engineers, pilots, and aviation enthusiasts. These volunteers donate their time and expertise to restore aircraft, support flying operations, organise displays, and engage with the public.

Volunteering with the IHFF is a rewarding and hands-on experience, allowing volunteers to:

  • Learn aircraft maintenance and restoration skills,
  • Participate in event organisation and operations,
  • Share aviation history with diverse audiences.
